The Cyclone - Brooklyn, New York

Day one of second pass through this painting.

I'm trying to compose some cumulous clouds towards the bottom here that will hopefully echo the curves of the roller coaster.  I'm wrestling with the proper placement of these clouds to try to adhere to the "golden section" rule of painting composition, which is never to have a focal point midway either vertically or horizontally in the picture.  Everything looks better to the eye at a 1/3 to 2/3 ratio in nature, so that's what I'm aiming for with the intersection of these clouds.  I think that these clouds will lead the eye into the picture plane from the left side while also crossing the major curve of the structure at an opposite angle, thus creating tension and movement on the 2 dimensional surface.   Let's hope it works.
