First stage of underpainting complete...

This one is very similar to the Harris Diner painting I did last year. I want to knock in a reddish/orange sky in this one to be a complementary backdrop to the blue neon. It was the exact opposite color composition in the Harris painting, orange neon against a blue sky. When I saw this sign in Hawaii, I almost fell over...it fits in with the parameters of these recent sign paintings perfectly. Of course I had to have a few donuts from this great bakery while I was there..........you know, research and all...
